A few years ago I got a French Bulldog. I was excited, a little clueless, and like most new dog owners I walked into the pet store and grabbed whatever looked good on the shelf. Decent brand, nice packaging, reasonable price. I thought I was doing right by him.

I wasn’t. He started having digestion issues, low energy, and a coat that looked dull. I went back to the store and tried something else. Then something else again. I was spending money I didn’t need to spend, on products that weren’t right for his breed — and my dog was the one dealing with the consequences.

That’s when I started actually researching. Not just “best dog food” Google searches — but digging into what French Bulldogs specifically need. Their body structure, their sensitive stomachs, their brachycephalic build. Turns out breed matters more than most people realise when it comes to what goes in the bowl.

I built BreedAndBowl because I couldn’t find one place that answered that question clearly — what should this specific breed actually eat? No generic lists. No one-size-fits-all top tens. Just honest, breed-specific guidance that helps you make the right call before you waste money on the wrong product.
